VR Application – Virtual Casting of Aircraft Parts and Assembly in Boeing 737
An immersive VR application showcasing the virtual casting process of aerospace components and their assembly in a Boeing 737 airframe — created for the Odlewnicza Wiosna 2024 event at the Polish Aviation Museum.
Challenge
Krakodlew S.A. was looking for an innovative way to engage young people and students in the topic of modern foundry industry. Existing educational materials were not very engaging, and traditional presentations failed to convey the role of castings in structures such as the Boeing 737.
- Low awareness among young audiences about the foundry industry
- Limited appeal of traditional educational materials
- Difficulty in demonstrating the impact of castings on aircraft safety
- Need to create an interactive presentation for Odlewnicza Wiosna 2024
Solution
I designed and developed an immersive VR application presenting the virtual casting process of aerospace components and their assembly in a Boeing 737 passenger aircraft structure.
- Development of the educational VR concept
- Interactive simulation of the casting process
- Virtual assembly into a Boeing 737 airframe
- Gamification of the experience
- Event design aligned with the „Aviation & Space” theme
Results
- High participant engagement at the event
- Increased understanding of the role of foundry in aviation
- Attractive format drew students, university attendees and industry representatives
- Positive reception in both industrial and educational communities
„Marcin prepared the concept and executed the VR application… We chose the concept of virtual casting of components and their assembly in a passenger aircraft. The application also fit the theme of Odlewnicza Wiosna: Aviation and Space, at the Polish Aviation Museum in 2024. The collaboration was highly professional.”
